Bringing the start

Author: Joesph Sinclair

This week we start our project and portfolio classes with a bit more freedom than usual as to what sort of game we will be creating. after deciding the game we are tasked to use perforce in order to maintain version control. getting the account and workspace setup was simple enough and even adding the file for the gitignore wasn't to complicated. however making sure that the files were consistent among my teammates was a bit more complicated than I had first imagined. after connecting the revision control in unreal and having some needed guidance through how to check out, add and remove files from the repository I was able to finally ensure how to have everyone's files added and in control so that we will be less likely to run into problems down the line. In order for all of the files to correctly be seen in the unreal project i had to  be sure that the source files were being marked for add and that when the repository updated that the Depot had all of the files in my personal repo were being reflected. I also learned how to check out files and get some insight on how to properly use the perfoce interface to keep everyone from editing the same files or causing conflicts down the road.
